The
idea for Proliferate developed over a dinner conversation between
Karinne Keithley and Jane Jerardi. Proliferate is a dance dvd-label
and site that collects work made by dance artists for the screen -- be
it
for video, websites, projections, or other digital media -- with a
decidedly DIY approach.
It will eventually include DVD compilations and downloads of
experimental artists' work, in addition to some full-length releases of
individual projects. It aims to make compelling dances for the screen
more widely available through one-of-a-kind DVDs and downloads, with
the hope of inspiring other low-tech, high-concept video projects by
others.
